PARENT COACHING
“I don’t know how to talk so my kid actually listens.”
“I feel like my partner and I are never on the same page with parenting.”
“I don’t want to parent the way my parents did but I don’t know better alternatives.”
“I don’t want to punish my kid but I also don’t know how to get them to do what they need to without it.”
“I feel like a bad parent.”
If any of this sounds like you, you’re not alone! Parents are expected to know how to do their day-to-day jobs well in addition to parenting, which is a job in and of itself. If your household could use more peace and less yelling, if you want to learn how to get aligned with your partner, or you want to replace some unhelpful techniques with better ones, a parent coach can walk you through the process.
A parent coach is someone who helps parents with parenting challenges by offering alternative perspectives around family situations, uncovering strategies to shift behavior and family dynamics, and helping parents achieve their parenting goals. Parent Coaching: What it Is and How it Strengthens Families
Our parent coach Dominique Godat holds a Bachelor’s in English and American literature with a minor in classical language from New York University and a Master’s of Science in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood from Johns Hopkins University, and has been an educator for the past 15 years in the US, Japan, and India. She works with parents and caregivers to strengthen families by teaching how to implement consistent, emotionless rules and consequences, how to have grace with yourself and your kids, and how to set attainable goals through sustained behavior changes by using research-backed methodology that focuses on the positive alongside the negative. Dominique works closely with your individual therapist to make sure that your needs are being met as a human as well as a parent.
