MARNIE TETZLAFF, LICENSED MASTER SOCIAL WORKER

I understand the tumultuous journey of women navigating high-conflict divorces, and the uncertainty of wondering how to move forward. I recognize that behind every client is a woman facing one of life's most challenging transitions—a woman who may be feeling overwhelmed, afraid, and unsure of her future.

Life transitions often bring up feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, and worry, but embracing new possibilities is a courageous path offering opportunities for growth. Staying connected to and honoring our authentic self allows us to better navigate these challenges, transitions, and change. Through my own personal healing journey, I was inspired to transition from a successful career in finance to one as a therapist, a role that I dedicate to supporting and empowering others to feel grounded, connected, and seen.

Why seek therapy during a high-conflict divorce? It’s easy to think, “Right now I just need to get through this, and then afterwards I can process.” But women most often come to me when they are:

  • Feeling emotionally drained from constant conflict with their soon-to-be ex-partner, or former partner

  • Struggling to maintain their sense of self amidst legal battles

  • Worried about the impact of the divorce on their children and blaming themselves

  • Navigating co-parenting in a volatile situation

  • Grappling with financial insecurity and lifestyle changes

  • Experiencing anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) related to their marriage or separation

  • Unsure how to communicate effectively with a high-conflict ex-spouse

  • Feeling overwhelmed, lost, and questioning their sense of self

  • Seeking to rebuild their confidence and create a positive future

What can you expect from therapy with me?

My approach is tailored to help you:

  • Find your voice by developing assertiveness skills to advocate for yourself with your soon-to-be-ex, or former partner

  • Heal trauma and emotional wounds through processing the pain of the dissolution of your marriage and separation in a safe, supportive environment

  • Navigate co-parenting by learning strategies to shield your children from conflict as best you can and maintain their well-being through this difficult period

  • Reclaim your identity and rediscover who you are outside of your marriage so you can build a vision for your future

  • Manage stress by acquiring practical tools to handle the day-to-day challenges of your divorce process

  • Build resilience and develop coping mechanisms to face inevitable setbacks and emerge stronger

  • Establish and maintain healthy boundaries with your ex-partner

  • Develop strategies for communicating effectively, even during difficult times

My clients often start therapy feeling lost and overwhelmed, but gradually find themselves growing stronger, more confident, and even hopeful about their future. They learn that while they can't control their ex-partner's behavior, they can control their own responses and build a life that aligns with their values and aspirations.

In my judgment-free space, you'll find not just a warm and caring therapist, but an ally who understands the complexities of high-conflict divorce, both clinically and personally. Whether you're just starting the divorce process or struggling to move forward post-divorce, I am here to support you in writing the next chapter of your life—one where you're the author of your own story.
