Jenny Maenpaa, LCSW, EdM, Founder of New York City Psychotherapy Collective

Meet Jenny Maenpaa, LCSW, EdM, Practice Founder:

Therapy with me is:

Engaging and relatable. I bring energy and connection to sessions—I’m a firm believer that therapy should feel approachable and real.

Outside of the therapy room:

I’m a proud pet parent!

In her 15+ year career, Jenny has encountered countless women whose high performance and resulting accolades often led to burnout and unhappiness, so she created an evidence-based approach to change how we operate in the world.

By bringing a scientific, evidence-based perspective to nebulous concepts like "burnout" and "boundaries" - words we hear a lot but don't always know much about - she helps break down the origins of these behaviors and create new ways of operating in the world that serve everyone better.

What makes Jenny come alive is seeing women realize the unlimited potential within them. When women can take care of themselves personally, their light shines through, and the best version of them shows up professionally. And that version is a badass who stands tall, knows her worth, and lights up the world.

As a therapist, Jenny helps stressed-out, overachieving women overcome impostor syndrome and dissatisfaction. As a result of working with Jenny, women go from just chasing the brass ring to achieving sustainable happiness in every aspect of their lives.

Jenny approached the foundation of the practice by combining two main approaches to therapy:

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

This approach involves changing hurtful thoughts and behaviors through structured and targeted interventions.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

This approach involves a more open-ended approach to discussing and working on past and present experiences and emotions.

A balance of both approaches allows you to:

  • Examine your past with a trained professional.

  • Understand the limitations being placed on your present.

  • Unleash your vision for an ideal future.

In addition to her therapy and coaching credentials, Jenny is a graduate of a Yoga Alliance certified program. In her work specializing in anxiety, she infuses mindfulness and grounding techniques into her company’s approach to give clients additional tools to calm anxieties.

While Jenny is not taking on new individual clients at this time, she closely supervises the staff and can provide case consultation on any client at the practice at any time.
